Size approximately 55cm x 40cm x 4.5cm
This end-grain chopping board is handmade from different varieties of New Zealand native timbers, including Rimu, Totara, and Matai, with Rimu as the main feature. All timber is salvaged from around the Hawke’s Bay. Each board highlights the natural colour variations and grain patterns, so no two boards are ever the same.
Because we work with salvaged, reclaimed rimu, you may notice the occasional nail hole or small crack. These have been carefully filled with black, food-safe resin and are part of what makes each board unique.
End-grain boards are known for being especially hard-wearing and long-lasting. The wood fibres absorb the knife edge rather than resisting it, which helps keep your knives sharper for longer and reduces the need for frequent sharpening.
Handy grooves on both ends make this board easy to pick up and move.
All boards are finished with 100% food-safe mineral oil and our own board wax, made from a blend of mineral oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax.
